The source

It started with one book

Region names, definitions and the basis of every comparison follow 『뇌를 탐구하다』. The book is read; the exhibit is touched — the same material, two ways to meet it.

What we refuse to do

This product is defined by its refusals, not its feature list. Declining these four is what makes it placeable in a public space.

01

No individual image measurement

The MRI on screen produces no figure or determination, keeping medical-device review and the educational-exhibit boundary distinct.

02

No standard-space normalisation

Standard-space registration normalises size and can weaken or erase the atrophy and shape differences the ageing and disease chapters exist to show.

03

No unsupported or mixed evidence

Reference figures require a published group average. Age and disease sources remain separate, and only like context is compared with like.

04

No colour competition with anatomy

Saturation stays with brain regions while controls stay achromatic. Icons and text accompany colour wherever state matters.

Read the design principles

Built from real human MRI

Not illustrations, not a synthetic model. Public and in-house scans, segmented into volumes and 3D meshes.

All day, with nobody managing it

No instruction sheet needed

Each step demonstrates the gesture on screen, and the next opens only once the visitor performs it.

Every visitor starts fresh

After three minutes of inactivity it returns home and clears the previous visitor. Adjustable to 1, 3, 5, 10 minutes, or off.

No internet required

It runs entirely offline, so it works the moment it is switched on regardless of the venue network.

Educational by design, from beginning to end

No individual measurement, no normalisation that erases meaningful change, no unsupported or mixed evidence, and no colour competition with anatomy.
